What is an order for possession?
As a landlord, you must get permission from the county court before you can evict your tenant. Your tenant can be evicted if the court grants you a possession order. The court decides whether a possession order should be made.
It can decide to make:
- an outright possession order
- a suspended or postponed possession order
- a money judgement for you for unpaid rent
The court could also decide to adjourn or dismiss the case against your tenant. At the same time, the court will also decide if your tenant should pay any of your costs of taking your tenant to court.
